Greater Lafayette is blessed with an abundance of local places to get a good diner breakfast. But my go-to spots are closed on Mondays, so when I decided I'd rather take my kids out for breakfast on Presidents' Day, I had to look for somewhere new. The Country Cafe fit the bill. We got there around 8:30 AM on a Monday, so it wasn't very crowded. We picked a booth and were … [Read more...]
Escape Velocity Brewing
I was on the way to go grocery shopping recently when I realized that I hadn't had lunch yet. Shopping on an empty stomach is bad, I'm told, so it seemed like a great opportunity to get lunch. I'd been watching Escape Velocity Brewing try to get established for a while. But in the last year, I've only gone there to get growler refills. It was time to check the place … [Read more...]

My family loves it in part … [Read more...]
Joe’s Pancake House
I've driven by Joe's Pancake House countless times without really taking much notice of it. I mean, with a name that nondescript, it doesn't really jump out at you. But each time I went by, something whispered to me. So recently, I decided it was time to check it out. The building itself is about as generic as you can get โ both inside and outside. But it was fairly busy on … [Read more...]
