Last month, I found myself working from a space downtown and I didn’t have any lunch with me. Since it was a beautiful day, I wanted to find somewhere with outdoor seating, so I ended up at Digby’s Pub and Patio. The patio feels secluded, despite being in the busiest part of downtown Lafayette. I would have appreciated a little more shade, but I’ve been fair-skinned long enough to know that sunscreen is a thing.
The menu gave me so many great options to choose from that it was hard to make up my mind. I ended up deciding on the pulled pork with sweet potato fries. I will always choose the sweet potato fries. The pork had a vinegar-based sauce, but it was very subtle, which allowed the taste of the pork to really come through. It was served on a potato bun, which was an interesting choice. The bun added a complimentary flavor. Like any good pulled pork sandwich, it was a messy meal.

As I alluded to above, I’m a sucker for sweet potato fries. If they’re an option on the menu, it’s safe money to bet that I will order them. Digby’s may have the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever eaten. The outside was very crunchy while the inside was almost like mashed sweet potatoes in texture. It was heaven. The sauce had a nice tang as well.
Since I was doing a review, I had to order some dessert, too. The salted caramel cheesecake came from Sweet Revolution, and it was very reminiscent of our review: delicious, with a too-firm crust.
