Review: I love nothing more than supporting local establishments, and I really love when local establishments use local vendors. So I was really excited to see that Main Street Wine uses local greenhouses for their produce and eggs and Fair Oaks Dairy for their cheese selection and several Indiana wineries for their wine selection.
I had actually been to Main Street Cheese before for a private wine and cheese event, but since then I have heard they offer a lunch menu. I knew you could stop in and buy wine and cheese and an assortment of other locally made products. So I guess it’s not just a restaurant, but a shop.
The place is small and inviting, nicely decorated and just a lovely atmosphere. It’s located farther up on Main Street, between 10th and 11th Streets. On Sundays they offer something called “Sunday Gatherings” which is a small buffet. The buffet includes two different types of frittata along with biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, ham, and roasted baby red potatoes w/ hints of rosemary and garlic. For an extra $2.00 you could enjoy a mimosa with breakfast.
I have heard that the lunch menu of salads and sandwiches are pretty excellent, but since we went on a Sunday, our only option was the breakfast bar. The biscuits were really good – very fluffy just how I like them. They offered two different gravy choices, spicy and regular, and I liked them both. I’ve never met a potato I didn’t like, so I would say a thumbs up on the roasted potatoes. Sadly, I was unimpressed with either frittata, but that could be that I’m just not a frittata person. My frittata experience is not extensive!
I thought the service was very good – friendly helpful staff, but not overbearing at all. We had a couple of questions about one of the wines we saw, and we were given a ton of information about the winery.
Overall, I think it was a great place and I would love to go back soon and try the sandwiches.
Kid friendly: I didn’t see a children’s menu, so it all depends on your child’s palate. I would check the menu first to make sure you see something your kids will eat.
Methods of payment: Cash or credit.
Price Range: $8.95 for the breakfast bar, sandwiches run between $6 – $7.
