Review: I need to begin by admitting that I was afraid to try Oliverio’s. I have driven by it enough and wondered about it. It’s a small little place right at the corner of US 25 and Old 231 South. I didn’t know if it was a bar, or a restaurant, or a secret society location. So I stayed away.

Then lately, I started seeing commercials for it while watching the WLFI news. Seeing it on a commercial helped gave me the courage to go try it out, and boy am I glad I did.

Like I said, it’s a small place. There’s a diner like bar where you can eat and some tables in the front, then another larger room in the back. It’s not fancy  and the tables are packed in there. We were told to sit wherever we wanted and picked a spot. We were immediately greeted with an extraordinarily friendly (but not overbearing) waitress who got us some coffee, menus, and silverware.

We took a few minutes and looked over the menu, which consisted of things like pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, etc. I ended up settling on something called a half and half – half biscuits and gravy and half hash browns, all covered in gravy. With the help of the waitress (who had great recommendations – I really can’t stand it when the wait staff has no clue what’s good), my friend chose the pancakes. My meal was excellent, and my friend’s blueberry pancakes were bigger than her head. I’m not exaggerating, her place was twice the size of mine to accomodate those pancakes. They were HUGE!

Upon paying our bill at the cash register up front, we were delighted to meet the proprietor of Oliverio’s, who claimed to be running the oldest, privately owned restaurant in Tippecanoe County. (I have not verified this claim, but it’s what she said.)

Overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast. It wasn’t fancy, but it was tasty and the service was excellent. I’d definitely go again and look forward to trying their lunch and dinner menu.

Kid friendly: Yes

Price Range: $3-$8 for breakfast

I’m trying to place it. Is it that small building next to BK? If so, I’ve felt the same way you did – unsure, and wary. Nice review, as always.

I never expect such a good service, good quality food, and a clean place from a small restaurant. Not to mention the price on the menu was great too.

After being here for 10years, today is the first time I went to Oliverio’s and I am surprise how much I liked it. You can tell that the food they prepared are very fresh and good quality. Our waitress was great. I asked my toast not to be buttered, and she suggested my veggie omelet not to be cooked in butter as well if I don’t like butter. What a great idea!! I love it how that turned out.

I usually don’t like to write reviews on restaurant. But since everything exceeded my expectation there, I had to write this! Two thumbs up for me. :)
