Review: Located in the strip mall by Pay-Less on Lafayette’s south side is the Super China Buffet. The name says it all. It is your run of the mill Chinese buffets. The restaurant is large with lots of long tables and booths in the front and several long buffet tables in the back. My kids love Chinese food, so this is often a stop for us when we’re hungry and don’t want to mess with a full-service restaurant.
The restaurant is relatively clean. It’s decorated in a way that almost reminds me of a casino – stuff everywhere. There’s a big screen TV on one wall that was show TRU TV, so if you are dining alone or don’t like what your dining companions are talking about, you can imerse yourself in some cop drama.
The food is pretty standard. Salad bar with the basics. Egg Drop soup and Won Ton Soup. Chicken with broccoli, egg rolls, steamed and fried rice, General tsaio’s chicken, pepper steak, lo mein, and more. I especially like the sugary biscuits – I’m not sure if they have a special name or not.
In essence, this restaurant fits the bill for a Chinese buffet. Nothing stands out as extraordinary, but it’s easy to get in and out, the food is fine, and you can eat as much crab Rangoon as your heart desires.

I am usually a big fan of chinese buffets. My diet consists of primarily meat, so they usually work out to my advantage (I am a pretty picky eater)
So I decided to check out the Super China one day, I get things from them in the mail, so I thought it was worth a try. Unfortunately this is probably one of the worst chinese buffets I have been to.
The restaurant was clean and large. I had higher hopes as I went in because Postal workers and Vectren workers were getting their food there. This is usually a good thing in my mind, since they are out there getting lunch all the time, and know where to go.
The entire restaurant had an “interesting” smell when I went in. It was a combination of a chlorine smell along with high school cafeteria…not an inviting smell.
I picked up a little of this and that and tried it, most of it was pretty bland. Over cooked. Rubbery when it should be soft, soft when it should be firm. Not good. Possibly some of the worst General Tsaio’s chicken I have ever had. This is a common dish for me, and I eat it A LOT, and it was horrible. The chicken was not good, the sauce wasn’t that good, I just couldn’t believe it.
The sugary biscuits were good as always though. I have always known them as “chinese donuts” but I do not know if that is an official name. I like to put them in a bowl and then soft serve vanilla on top. The ice cream was even a little bland, like they didn’t mix it right, or too thin.
About half way through my meal my stomach got a little upset and for the rest of the day I was sick. Maybe I went on a bad day, maybe not, but I won’t be going back.
Super china buffet, This is the worst place i have every ate. Not only is the food cold every time i have been there, But all the chicken has this sour rotten flavor to it. I must say the only good thing that i had ate there is the salad and the coke from the pop machine. I have no clue how this place stays open, I think the health dept needs to do a little investigation. Other than the worst food i have eaten in a long time, This place is big and clean, but dont make up for there horrible food. If your looking for the best chinese food around the fortune house on 38 is the best around
